ORU Clothes and Toiletry Drive
August 1st, 2018 - October 12th, 2018
Orphans Rising in Unity launched in December 2016.
Through donations, the organization continues to thrive by sending clothes, school supplies, and money to ensure the registered orphans are supported. The organization currently has over 200 registered orphans. They are working to bring awareness to the organization in the D.C, Maryland and Virginia area.
ORU also continues to encourage young Sierra Leonean descendants in the D.C, Maryland and Virginia area to give back to their native country.​
Goals
Orphans Rising in Unity is working to create an after-school tutoring program and monthly empowerment programs for registered orphans.
Tutoring program
ORU's tutoring program will focus on advancing the academic skills of registered orphans in math, English, and history for all ages.
Empowerment program
ORU's empowerment program will focus on uplifting and encouraging registered orphans through various activities that will prepare them for adulthood. The program will also teach basic life skills needed to achieve their long-term goals.
